In 1964, through a terrible rebellion experience in Zaire as a missionary kid, I came to realize my need for a Savior. Up until that point I had thought that I was a pretty good kid. After seeing rebel soldiers and hearing how they killed so many people including my aunt, I realized I needed Christ. That night, my Mother took me through the Romans Road and I trusted Him. In 1970, at Grace Baptist Church in Twin Falls, Idaho God spoke to me through the Pastor and I gave my life to the Lord for whatever He would have for me. I was burdened by God for Zaire in 1977 and so in 1979 I went to Denver Bible College to prepare for full time missionary service. I met my wife, Chris, there and we have served in Zaire since August of 1983.

Camp Jonah

We took 15 teens and six leaders to Camp Jonah in Trout Lake, WA. for a week of camp. We did everything from the high ropes course to climbing into a cave and playing in the mud pit. The weather and the setting were beautiful and we really enjoyed being surrounded by God's creation for a few days.

The most important part of the week was hearing God's Word on a daily basis and being challenged to have transformed worship, service and faith. Joe Castenada was our speaker and he used the lives of Josiah, David and the woman at the well to challenge us to be "room changers". We need to so have the aroma of Christ around us that people are drawn to Him by seeing us. We had three teens out of our group trust Christ to be their Savior and many other decisions were made as well.

Many thanks to the staff at Camp Jonah for their warm and helpful spirit and for being such a great part of the week. Plan to join us next year at the same time for another life changing week at camp.
